Clustered around the Euphrates, Tigris, etc. Military superstates from the beginning will arise again in the last days, crawling out of the it as a vicious, devouring beast. (Rev. 17, Dan. 7) My personal oponion that the Shia superstate will dominate at the time of the end, up til Armegeddon. The Scriptures are clear (Is.) the Assyrian will be the head, and will rule with a mighty horn of power.
Here's how Revelation describes the reemergence of these military empires. They are all Islamic with massive wastelands. Just so you know, they are completely evil. Their whole purpose is to try to defeat the True Righteous King, Jesus , from coming again to rule on earth. This is how John describes the vision he was given in Revelation 17, ISV: "Then the angel carried me away in the Spirit in a wilderness (desert). I saw a ... scarlet beast that was controlled by blasphemy. It had seven heads and 10 horns." (Ruling nations and military heads of state.) (v3a,c) "Why are you surprised the angel asked me? I will tell you the secret of the... beast with the seven heads (nations) and 10 horns (rulers.)... The beast that you saw existed once, (in the far past), but is no longer, (at the time John was given the vision on Patmos. At that time the Roman empire had thrown down the mid-east beast.) "And is going to crawl out of the bottomless pit." (This is happening right now before our eyes as we see the reemergence of these military powers. Especially watch for a nuclear Iran. When this occurs the beast is out of its pit of confinement.) "And then proceed to its destruction." (That's called Armegeddon, when Jesus in His mercy for the world, destroys them by the Brightness of His Coming). (v7a,8)
