The Time of the End

Daniel saw a great vision of a powerful conflict to come at the "time of the end."  The Word of God reveals: Then he (Gabriel)  said, "I am here to tell you what will happen later in the time of wrath. What you have seen pertains to the very end of time. (Dan. 8:19 NLT)

The classical interpretation of this vision is that the once great Persian Empire created by Cyrus the Great in  past history  (600 BC) was a mighty, conquering ram.  Then, arose a young goat from Greece, Alexander the Great.  He wielded a huge "horn"  of military might and power.  Alexanders warriors overthrew the mighty Ram as he flew across the face of the earth.  And that is exactly what happened in history, Greece defeated Persia in 331BC.  So, we had the historical overthrow of the Persian Empire, the rise of Greece.   This is all fact, and it happened just as Daniel foresaw.  Hundreds of years later out of the eastern power base of the Greek empire arose a 'little horn."   Antiochus Ephiphanes gained power in 175BC.  He sat upon the throne in the Holy of Holies in defiance of God Most High.  This even is know as the "abomination of desolation" described in Daniel 9:27.  This man is a 'type or foreshadow' of the Antichrist to come at the 'time of the end'.  He will sit in the Holy of Holies claiming he is God (2 Thes. 2:4), and demanding that humanity worship him by taking his mark, 666 (Rev. 13:14-18).  This is the ultimate "abomination of desolation" at the time of the end that the Lord Jesus Himself warned us is coming (Mark 13:14).  Then the Lord Jesus, King of Kings and Lord of Lords,  will come again and slay this beast Antichrist with His Spirit and the brightness of His coming. (2 Thes. 2:98) 

Jesus will restore this war torn earth and make everything right in the millennium.  "Even so, Come Lord Jesus."
